The Challenge
Soundstorming is a music app built around superfans. Artists share raw, unreleased moments. Fans react, earn status and unlock what money can’t buy.
They were raising, and they needed a film for their investor deck: one minute to explain a product that wasn’t public yet, to people who’d seen plenty of music-tech pitches before.
The Solution
We didn’t start with visuals. We started with the investor.
Before writing a line, we mapped what an investor needs to believe and what makes them nervous. Music tech has a reputation, so the film had to answer three questions fast:
Is the problem real? Superfans exist. Nobody has unlocked their value. Yet.
Is it a business or just a feature? Free Storms build the community. Experiences pay.
Why now? Fans have moved from listening to co-creating.
We even wrote for three imaginary investors: Scott Galloway, Li Jin and Dídac Lee. All three think about fans, status and direct revenue.
Then came the line that unlocked it: “The intimacy of a WhatsApp group with your favourite artist… with Fortnite’s earned status built in.”
The Process
Four scripts to find the story
The script took four versions. The first sold “monetize the rough draft”. The second led with 77,000 stadium seats and zero ad spend, and the third with the 15% of fans who generate 80% of everything. The last sold something simpler: superfans already exist, and nobody gives them a home.
From storyboard to style
Once the script was approved, we moved to the storyboard. It wasn’t a polished visual reference but a tool to lock the narrative, the structure and the pace. With that locked, the design stage brought in Soundstorming’s colours, typography and brand identity.
Built from the app
Having access to Soundstorming’s design system helped a lot. We built the film from the app’s own layouts, graphics and assets, so a key piece of their fundraising looked like the product itself. The same parts (pills, fan cards, the stat card, the record) were then rebuilt for vertical, ready for social cutdowns.
The voice is ours
We recorded the voiceover ourselves, then edited it with ElevenLabs.
